Outside the Studio…

As some of you know I have recently left South Africa and have taken a bit of a hiatus to focus on my family and their needs rather than those of my clients. Although I fully intend to return to full time shooting, it is not an option for me at present due to many personal factors including my husbands current medical requirements.

I have however been using my time to learn more and grow as a photographer, I haven’t put down my camera and would like to share some of my favorite images from the last year in my journey OUTSIDE THE STUDIO…

Jessca’s expression as she watched her Daddy get into the car broke my heart…

My big girl with the gentle heart and soulful eyes.

My baby turned one…

Jess’ first ballet class.

Sometimes she’s just a little girl, but not often so I was so excited to be able to catch one of those rare moments.

My girls are both water babies…

Discovering fireflies…

My 30’th birthday self portrait. I hate being on the wrong end of the camera.

Laura Brett workshop

I had the great pleasure of attending a workshop in January, by one of the biggest names in newborn photography – Laura Brett.

This was also the first time I got to put my new Canon 5D Mii though its paces and Im pleased with the results. I have subsequently upgraded to the newly launched Miii and will share my thoughts on it when Ive had a bit more time to test it out.

Austin was as welcoming as it was beautiful and after a very full day spent watching and learning, this is what I returned home with…

I can’t wait to use all the tips and tricks I learnt but it will have to wait for the new studio launch…

The P Family

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

The G Family

You don’t choose your family.  They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.
Desmond Tutu

Do you remember the G Children? Those lovely faces are hard to forget. They came to see me again, and this time they brought the whole family!
